The historic Bagatela Landscape Park with a historical soul
The Bagatela Historic Landscape Park is a unique national heritage site that combines aristocratic history, natural beauty, and the prestigious character of a former residence. This extraordinary estate is nestled in dense forests and captivates with the unique atmosphere of a place developed since the mid-19th century. The historic palace complex has retained its representative character to this day, and one of its most important elements remains the elegant driveway leading to the residence.
The park boasts an impressive group of ancient trees, including stately English oaks estimated to be 150–300 years old. Majestic European ashes, maples, spruces, and other valuable species possess the characteristics of monumental trees, significantly enhancing the site’s significance. This makes the Bagatela Historic Landscape Park not only a prestigious property but also a priceless piece of history and nature.
The aristocratic history of Bagatela Park
The history of the Bagatela estate is inextricably linked to the Biernacki family of the Poraj coat of arms. The complex was founded by Michał Biernacki, who took over the Czekanowski estate in 1768 following the death of Jan Kanty Biernacki, the Piotrków treasurer. By 1810, he had completed the construction of a stately manor house, which marked the beginning of the complex’s further development.
In subsequent years, Michał’s son, Władysław Biernacki, expanded the residence’s grounds with functional farm buildings. The spatial layout was designed to clearly separate the residential and utility areas. This allowed the residence to retain the private, intimate character that still distinguishes it today.
In 1877, the heirs of the Biernacki family sold the estate to Prince Ferdynand Radziwiłł of the Trąby coat of arms. He owned the extensive Przygodzicki estate, which the Prussian King Frederick William IV had elevated to the rank of a county. It was Prince Ferdynand who, in 1879, began the reconstruction of the manor into a magnificent hunting lodge, giving the estate a more representative and aristocratic character.
A historic residence with investment potential
In 1882, Prince Ferdynand transferred the Czekanów estate and Bagatela to his brother Karol. Subsequently, in 1906, the estate was acquired by Prince Władysław Jerzy Radziwiłł, Karol’s son, who remained its owner until the 1940s. After World War II, following nationalization, the property was converted into tenant apartments. Later, the palace was acquired by the State Forests.
Although the post-war reconstruction was not beneficial to the former residence, the area is now regaining its former prestige. The historic Bagatela Landscape Park represents a unique opportunity for investors seeking premium real estate with a strong historical identity. It’s a location with enormous potential, ideal for those who value heritage, privacy, and the unique character of former aristocratic estates.

Bagatela Landscape Park as a kingdom of nature
Today, Bagatela Landscape Park delights with its abundance of rare trees, shrubs, and historical plantings. The entire area is meticulously maintained, and its natural character enhances the estate’s unique atmosphere. Four massive common beeches and 124 uniquely shaped English oaks grow within the park.
A truly unique feature in the country is the historic hornbeam avenue, composed of 133 common hornbeams. Their age exceeds 100 years, making the avenue one of the most valuable elements of the entire park. The park’s flora also includes 13 sycamore maples, 44 Norway maples, 36 black locusts, and 8 white elms.
Mature, cascading rhododendron plantings also create a unique atmosphere. The park boasts approximately 50 rhododendrons, reaching heights of up to 4 meters. Ancient yew avenues, extensive clearings, and a natural forest setting complete the overall experience, ensuring absolute peace and privacy.

The historic Bagatela Landscape Park maintains the highest standard of maintenance
One of the greatest assets of this property is the exceptional standard of park maintenance. The current owners have meticulously maintained the grounds, preserving their historic layout, natural beauty, and prestigious character. Modern irrigation systems have been installed, effectively protecting the vegetation from periods of drought and maintaining the park in excellent condition throughout the season.
Extensive, sunny clearings create an ideal space for relaxation surrounded by nature. At the same time, monumental trees, historic avenues, and a forest backdrop give the entire place an exceptionally elegant, timeless character. This is an option for connoisseurs who desire to live in or invest in a property with soul, history, and a unique landscape.
